—————————

Andy Warhol, pseudonym of Andrew Warhola Jr. (Pittsburgh, August 6, 1928 – New York, February 22, 1987), was the founder of the Pop art movement and one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.

Andy Warhol says about his life: “ I’d rather remain a mystery. I don’t like talking about my past, I tell it differently every time. Not to create an image for myself, but precisely because I forget what I said the previous time. In fact, I don’t think I have an image ”.

The exhibition itinerary is divided into major themes which are summarized below.

THE YOUTHFUL YEARS

VINYL COVERS
Unpublished in its formulation, the exhibition begins in his youth, when Warhol, a young designer, experiments, thanks to his work as a graphic designer for important record companies, techniques and subjects, which he will then use in his future work.

Some unpublished gems will be exhibited, such as the first covers made by Warhol, in the 40s/50s, true rarities and which have contributed to developing his aesthetic and figurative taste which through this experience has been able to test himself with the portraits of icons such as for example Paul Anka, Liza Minnelli, John Lennon the Rolling Stones and many more.

THE ICONS
In this section you will find the legendary silk-screen works dedicated to the portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Mao, the famous Campbells, the Flowers and the Granolithographs including the famous Pepsi Cola and Mickey Mouse.

THE PORCELAINS
The exhibition will also host the rare porcelain made, with pure gold, based on Warhol’s project for Mr. Rosenthal, owner of the famous porcelain house made with surprising results, works rarely exhibited due to their delicacy and fragility.

THE POLAROIDS
An important part will be reserved for some Polaroids, made by Warhol to immortalize personalities and moments of his extraordinary life in which appear among others John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Paloma Picasso, Jack Nicholson, Tony Curtis, Marisa Berenson and Rudolph Nurejev and other protagonists of the international Jet Set.

INTERVIEW MAGAZINE
There will also be the extraordinary images elaborated by Warhol for the magazine Interview, which he conceived and directed, with some copies signed by him and combined with books and catalogs with dedications and drawings. Cult personalities from Annie Lennox to Grace Jones to Salvador Dalì and Jim Bailery portrayed by his friend and official Interview photographer Francesco Scavullo together with shots by Warhol’s assistant Ronnie Cutrone, accompany the itinerary.

ARTISTS CLOSE TO WARHOL
To accompany Warhol’s works there will then be photographs and objects by international artists close to him, such as Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons, Mark Kostabj, inspirers and protagonists together with him of the POP world in the form of a tribute to Warhol as a great protagonist of 20th century art.

THE VIDEOS
The exhibition will also be punctuated by projections of films and videos, made by and for Warhol, so as to let the public enter the Warholian world completely.

THE POSTERS
A space in the exhibition will be dedicated to commercial posters designed by Warhol for advertising purposes with the famous icons of the Perrier water poster and the Chanel perfume.
The documentary film Trash.

The exhibition also documents the most famous and transgressive documentary film produced by Andy Warhol, “Trash – The waste of New York” of 1970 directed by Paul Morrissey.

TRIBUTE TO LUCIO AMELIO
A passage of the exhibition will be dedicated to the memory of the gallery owner Lucio Amelio, the real discoverer of Warhol for Italy with the presentation to the public of the splendid serigraph of his Portrait and a series of photographs that portray him with Andy Warhol and other artists .

THE WORDS
“Quotes”, citations by Warhol, selected on the basis of textual research by the organization, will accompany the itinerary along the walls and in some transitional spaces.
